bring out the confetti and streamers...

right. so i've been missing for a while. cos i've just moved house. and there's NO internet or TV... so, yes... anyway, IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!!! *cue celebrations, streamers, confetti etc*

and thanks to everyone who made it special. though i have to admit you guys did pretty badly trying to hide your intentions. but i still think it was great you did what you did... thanks loads.

and so i'm 22 now. i'm soooo getting old.

Things I live by

Things change. People change. and we get on with our lives.

As a cynic, the best expectations to have are none. Because that way, people will never under-deliver. and you'll rarely get disappointed.

Nothing drives a person more than negative emotions. The scarring effect they have on you is testament to that. And you never forget the pain. or the anger. or the hurt. Because positive emotions are fleeting. and people forget them. But hurt, hurt stays with you. always.

Nobody is indispensible. Highly valuable, or difficult to replace perhaps. But definitely not indispensible. Because there'll always be someone faster / younger / cheaper / better / smarter.

There is what we call the impossible triangle - fast, cheap and good. You definitely can get 1 out of 3. 2 out of 3 more often than not is highly possible. But all 3? Nobody can give you all 3. Unless there's a catch (meaning that in the end you're probably going to get only 2 of them or even worse, 1).
